Turkish Börek Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 10 sheets of yufka dough (or phyllo dough)
  • 200g feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup chopped parsley
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish with olive oil and set it aside.

  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and mix them with yogurt, olive oil, salt, and pepper until well combined.

  3. Lay one sheet of yufka dough in the greased baking dish, allowing the edges to hang over the sides. Brush the sheet lightly with the egg and yogurt mixture.

  4. Place another sheet of yufka dough on top of the first one and brush it with the egg mixture. Repeat this process until you have used half of the yufka sheets.

  5. Spread half of the crumbled feta cheese evenly over the layered yufka sheets. Sprinkle half of the chopped parsley on top of the cheese.

  6. Continue layering the remaining yufka sheets on top of the cheese and parsley mixture, brushing each sheet with the egg and yogurt mixture.

  7. Once all the yufka sheets are layered, spread the remaining crumbled feta cheese and chopped parsley evenly over the top layer.

  8. Fold the overhanging edges of the yufka sheets over the top of the börek to cover the filling.

  9. Brush the top of the börek with the remaining egg and yogurt mixture. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top for garnish, if desired.

  10. Bake the börek in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and crispy on top.

  11. Once baked, remove the börek from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your delicious Turkish börek!
